Jhon Paul Salazar

Paul is an undergraduate scholar at the University of the Philippines Los Baños, where he is completing a degree in Agricultural Biotechnology with a major in Animal Biotechnology. His academic training has been shaped by rigorous research experiences, including his special problem on the sequence characterization of the MyTH4 Domain of the Myosin VIIB Gene in Darag, the Philippine native chicken. Alongside this, his role as a laboratory analyst intern at Easy Bio Philippines, Inc. further
honed and strengthened his capacity to approach scientific questions with both technical precision and curiosity.

As a recipient of national and regional scholarships, Paul has consistently demonstrated academic excellence and research potential. His scholarly trajectory reflects a growing interest in the regulation of gene expression and the molecular mechanisms that underlie phenotypic variation. These interests have directed his pursuit toward graduate studies in Epigenetics, where he seeks to integrate his background in agricultural biotechnology with advanced molecular and genomic approaches. Through this path, he aims to contribute to the broader understanding of gene regulation with potential applications in animal science, biotechnology, and biomedical research.
Outside the laboratory, Paul explores another side of his curiosity: freelancing in digital marketing, SEO writing, and graphic design. While his scientific work examines how genes switch “on” and “off,” his marketing work has him just as fascinated with keeping content “ranked” and “optimized.” Balancing molecules by day and metadata by night, he jokingly calls himself a “working experiment” — one equally at home with a pipette or a keyword planner. At the core, however, his ultimate pursuit remains learning.
For him, excellence in research is not simply about securing a place in the field but about claiming a sense of belonging within it. Or, as he likes to phrase it, his way of declaring ownership after giving his all: Questo edificio è mio.
